Artist’s Statement:

“Samantha is a self-taught artist, having developed her distinctive style not once, but twice—first through her natural passion for art, and later after a life-changing traumatic brain injury.
Working primarily in oils, with occasional use of acrylics and pastels, she employs a soft impressionistic brushwork and delicate yet expressive style. Her work is about capturing the fleeting moments that feel like gifts—moments that often pass unnoticed as we rush through our lives. These are moments of stillness and of presence, if only we take the time to be. The focus is on conveying the feeling of a moment—those brief windows of beauty. Samantha often tries to capture something as it is but also express what attracted her to the scene and thereby show the richness of the experience. She hopes her paintings are invitations to pause, to breathe, and to be present and truly see the value of what is around us in the everyday. Her daughter calls them little portals into Dorset’s time and space.
Samantha has a reputation for beautiful use of colour and produces a popular range of local greetings cards.”
