Daniela Hatfield MA RCA

Categories: Drawing, Mixed Media, Photography, Textiles

2023 Venue(s): Rollington Barn

Graduating from the Royal College of Art, Daniela creates conceptually-based knitted textiles assembled as small, mounted works. The pieces being exhibited are inspired by architectural forms and landscape line drawings, garment detailing, Jean Arp and the written word. Using a domestic knitting machine and combining this with found items, the pieces evoke a playful yet considered experiment with layering, surface and form. Exploring differing modes of photography, and collecting research-led ephemera, also contribute to the design process; a quiet way of observing, placing and re-presenting ideas. Daniela also produces knitted samples for forecasting and design consultancies and is an experienced academic teaching at London College of Fashion and University of Brighton.
