PYA 2025

At the heart of PAW is a passion for bringing art to as many young people in our Purbeck community as we can. Every year we work with fantastic local artists with a wealth of experience to deliver amazing workshops in schools all around Purbeck. We work closely with local schools to celebrate and encourage art, and each year we involve around 500 young people in creative activities. In 2025 there were a record number of schools involved working with 7 artists and the range of workshops includes, glass art, puppet making, painting banners, clay making and 3D art using recycled materials. Workshops and artwork from the schools were based on the festival theme, which this year was ‘Myths, Monsters and Legends’. Three of the workshops created props and scenery for the performance of The Fairy Queen that took place on the 7th of June. We hope that you came and saw the inspiring results in The Byre at Rollington Barn.

As always, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to The Friends of the Festival and to all our Sponsors for supporting our work with young people. Without their amazing generosity, we would not have so many opportunities to spread the passion for art to as many schools as we do. We would also like to thank the schools and teachers involved in PAW 2025 for recognising the importance of art for young people and creating some incredibly imaginative artwork.

As one of the teachers said ‘the workshop opened the door for the class to see that art is more than just paint and paper, but also that you can mix the natural world with artists’ ideas’.
