Artist’s Statement:

“Living by the sea has always been a privilege, and it’s ever-changing energy and transient nature are central to my work. The coastline, with its dynamic landscape and shifting moods provides constant inspiration. I often walk the coastline, absorbing the sights, sounds and textures, which I then bring together through drawing and painting.

My approach combines traditional painting of the coastline and seascapes with the addition of details that influence and contribute to the depiction. These expand out of the painting using a juxtaposition of bold shapes and delicate line drawing. My keen eye for detail draws attention to the elements that often go unnoticed, creating a unique aesthetic.

Working primarily in acrylics, I incorporate pen and pencils to add intricate detail and subtle highlights. I enjoy working on paper for the rich quality and texture you can create.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Falmouth College of Arts in 2006, I have lived in various coastal locations, including the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall. Now based on Swanage, the unique Purbeck landscape and surrounding areas frequently inspire my artwork.
