“Helen Biles Studio is an artist studio set in the beautiful Purbeck heathland showing an interesting mix of oil paintings and eco prints. Helen also runs popular creative workshops in eco printing for adults, teens and children.
Eco printing is a wonderful natural printing technique using eucalyptus, plants and flowers to create beautiful and diverse prints onto cloth. In these workshops you will learn the art of eco printing and how to combine these techniques with natural dyeing, indigo dipping, shibori and rust printing to build up texture and unique patterns. If you love colour you will enjoy the exotic palette of natural dyes on offer and experiment with Indigo, Cochineal, Eastern Brazilwood, Marigold, Eucalyptus, Myrobalan &, Lak – to name just a few.
In these workshops Helen shares her knowledge gained from living in Laos, where she learned from the skills of the master dyers at Houey Hong.
The children’s workshops include graffiti & spray painting, creative journaling, wire sculpture and eco printing with an emphasis on experimentation and fun, encouraging children to try new techniques.
Helen holds a Master’s degree in Art from COFA, Sydney, Australia. She regularly exhibits and has been involved in international artist residency programs.”
