Artist’s Statement:

“Harriet’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in the natural world. Her work explores nature’s wildness, dynamism, and fragility through experimental use of natural materials including clay, wood, willow, and locally sourced dyes.

A significant aspect of her practice involves creating immersive light and sound installations. These environmental interventions guide viewers through dark and wild spaces, highlighting the architectural qualities of trees and forests through thoughtful illumination and shadow play. Her passion for environmental issues has lead to creating large-scale installations for Greenpeace at Glastonbury Festival and working on productions such as ‘Remnant Ecologies’ (Dublin Botanical Gardens, 2023) and ‘Garden of Shadows’ (Skibbereen Arts Festival, 2024).

For PAW 2025, Harriet presents work that celebrates the distinctive colours of Purbeck. She has developed a collection of natural inks and dyes harvested directly from her local environment. This latest project builds on her established practice of walking and drawing in the landscape, and continues her exploration of natural materials and forms.

Harriet shares her expertise by offering workshops in walking and drawing, natural dyeing, and ink-making.”
