Glass is a remarkably versatile medium – firing temperature, colour, texture, managing bubbles and even chemical reactions are used to create objects. Working with glass is a continual learning process, learning from mistakes and exploring new methods that open up options for creativity. Lighting and its effects are crucial, and bubbles that form between layers of glass can be a problem, but if managed well can give and extra layer that catches the light and creates an extra layer of interest. I progressed from coasters to bowls, sculptures and more recently pictures. Inspiration for many of my designs come from walking along the Purbeck Coast, diving under the sea and sailing in the bay.
